My collection Tying the Knot is about the development of romantic relationships. I started designing this collection at a unique moment in my life; I had just met my now-partner and we were in the talking/flirting stage; within the first three weeks of the semester, we began dating. This collection was deeply personal to me because it became somewhat of a representation of how my partner and I were becoming more and more entangled in each other’s lives. I chose to make this collection using entirely macrame and braiding to symbolize the entanglement process couples go through during a relationship. This collection was also heavily inspired by rom coms. The wedding gown at the end is entirely derived from watching my favorite romantic comedies, as they all end in weddings.
